Who we are

Plain Simple is a mobile application that helps you understand confusing documents by explaining them in plain English using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

What we collect

We collect almost nothing. Here is the complete list of data Plain Simple stores:

Scan counter — a single number stored locally on your device tracking how many free scans you have used. This never leaves your device.
Subscription status — whether you are a free or Pro user, stored locally on your device.
Saved explanations (Pro users) — if you are a Pro subscriber, your explanation history is saved locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to any server.

What we do NOT collect

We do not store your photos or document images
We do not store your document explanations on any server
We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information
We do not use analytics or tracking tools
We do not use advertising SDKs
We do not sell your data to anyone, ever
We do not require an account to use the app

How your scans are processed

When you scan a document, your image is sent securely over HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude AI API for processing. The explanation is returned to your device and displayed. The image is then immediately discarded — it is not stored by Plain Simple or on any server we control.

Anthropic processes your image solely to generate the explanation. Their data handling is governed by the Anthropic Privacy Policy.

Your document history (Pro users)

Pro subscribers can save and revisit their explanations. This history is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. It is never uploaded, synced, or accessible to us. If you delete the app, your history is permanently deleted.

In-app purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information. All billing is managed through your Apple ID.

Plain Simple is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

If we make material changes to this privacy policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
